Hookah History

Smoking the hookah has started to hit the mainstream in recent years, and this has now become an international craze with hookah bars opening up all over the place. The Hookah has had a long and deep-rooted history in the Middle East, and its origins can be traced back to Turkey. In the Middle East the hookah is known as the nargile. The hookah has retained its style and elegance for over five hundred years. Both men and women have enjoyed smoking the hookah through out the centuries. The hookah has brought people together and was a way in which they smoked their troubles away. There is a certain etiquette that must be followed to smoking the hookah, and hundreds of years ago people were punished if they didn’t follow the proper etiquette. For centuries now hookahs have been served in cafes, and the people enjoyed drinking coffee and smoking the hookah back in those days as they still do today. There aren’t many things in this world that have withstood the test of time, but the hookah is one of them, and it will be around for generations to come.
